Here is the new postcard Scott Hunter and Aileen Lampman and I had made up for the gallery. Aileen designed it, it turned out pretty nice I think.
My Mom says that the blog is getting boring because I haven’t updated it lately. We’ve been busy so I have gotten away from it a bit. Well, here goes.
We did the gallery crawl downtown and the space was beautiful, the art looked fantastic. It took us three days to get it all hung and lit and two days to take it all down. We were told there would be thousands of people at this thing, but we think it is really more like hundreds (it was a very cold night). So basically it was an experience, but probably not worth all the effort.
We are currently looking over all the submissions we have gotten throughout the year from artists to decide on new talent for the gallery. If your an artist from Pittsburgh area now’s the time to submit material.
Greg and I are also trying to figure out how to do online sales from the website. Greg is back in the studio working on pottery.
It’s funny that when I started the business I thought that after we got up and running I would know what I’m doing and be less busy, but it is like every day you have more and more things to do (which is good) and you actually get busier and busier. The truth is, what I need to do is spend a day cleaning, really cleaning, every bit of the gallery. But not today, today I am doing inventory on all the new blown glass we just got in from the Pittsburgh Glass Center.

Greg and I are finished setting up for the gallery crawl on Friday night. The crawl lasts from 5:30 - 9pm in the cultural district, but then there is the Nightcrawler After party at Olive or Twist. Now I know I am getting old because the idea of being at a party until 2AM with DJ’s and hiphop is almost more than I can stand. I just walk in Hollister and sometimes the bass on the music is so loud I start to feel like I am having a heart attack. Greg has already said he will probably not make it, I told him that we will start drinking coffee at 10PM and we’ll be ok. Well, if you go I don’t make any guarantees about heart attacks, but I can tell you you will have an art attack – the place looks awesome with exposed brick and amazing large scale art by Scott Hunter.
5:30 - 9 PM — Gallery Crawl
9PM - 2AM — Nightcrawler Afterparty at Verve Wellness and Olive or Twist

B:Sides is coming up in two weeks. I’m trying to collect pieces from the artists, but everyone is so wiped out from Christmas that I am having trouble getting them in here.
This weather is making it hard to concentrate on work. I LOVE IT!!
We are doing the Gallery Crawl downtown on January 25 from 6:30 till like 2 am at Verve Pilates Studio. It should be really great, their space is awesome. Exposed brick, big windows, really beautiful. If only there was a space like that here in Mt. Lebanon, I would move in a heartbeat. We are going with Aileen and her jewerly and Scott Hunter’s paintings. Aileen’s lotus is perfect for a Pilate’s Studio and Scott is working on a few new pieces for the night.
Speaking of Scott Hunter, he has painted a few pieces to have in the play the “Big Bang” at CLO.
So my friend Molly and I made 17 Sock Monkey’s for gifts this year, below are a few of them. Let me know if you need a monkey, I can set you up for sure!

So on Dec. 8 I sold a glass plate on a stand by Vi Laux for $150. I started to ring up the sale and got sidetracked with packaging and somehow never ran the credit card. So I sent the customer out the door without ever collecting any money on the sale. My mistake and I will pay the artist. But the guy who bought it was real nice and I thought maybe if I put this note out he might come in to let me run the card and collect payment for the piece. He was looking for an Asian inspired wedding gift and had seen the editorial bit in Mt. Lebanon Magazine and that is what brought him in to the store in the first place.
