I am working on a new blog. This one has always been alittle hard to figure out. I will change the link from the website soon. For now it’s planetartblog.com.

Tonight is the opening for the Figurative Sculpture show and it’s First Friday. Please join us up here on Washington Rd between 6:00 and 9:00. Three live bands, stilt walkers, magicians, paper mache here at the gallery and I have ordered 6 dozen cookies for the kids!
Here are some pictures of the set up for this show, I have had so many emails coming in with people interested in seeing photos who can’t make it tonight. It is really amazing work. She uses junk mail to make a clay body to make each piece. The range in size from 6 inches to 6 feet and price from $65 to $580 — something for everyone!
Lorraine Gregus from the Alamnac interviewed Rachael here at the gallery yesterday and there should be an article in next weeks paper, keep your eye out.
Greg will be roaming the streets with our kids –they love hanging out up here with all their buddies and dancing in Clearview Common — so Aileen will be here at the gallery to help greet everyone coming in. So if you have questions about any Ai Design jewelry tonight is the night to stop by since she is Ai.

Congratulations to Diane White again, she (her painting) was chosen for the Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional Exhibit in Nashville TN in October. They only chose less than 100 paintings out of all the entries and hers was one!
No surprise to us!

I have been hearing a lot lately about what Oprah “Loves” this year, well Planet Art loves these sweet pendents. You send me your photo we have local artist Mary Ann Rieger make up a wonderful pendent. Either with two photos or a photo and a saying on the back. Best part — they are only $35!
Our own Scott Hunter was chosen by FE Gallery as one of Pittsburgh’s top 250 artist. His art will be in a show at FE Gallery and in a book that is being put together in celebration of Pittsburgh 250th Birthday. His work was chosen out of 350 submissions from 14 southwest PA counties.

Here are a few shots that Rob took before the show Saturday night. Even though it rained we had a great turn out.

I think I am actually ready for tonight. Everything is hung and looks great. The wine is chillin’. The cheese is cut (haha). We are ready to go, see you tonight, 6 - 9.

Rob just dropped off a bunch of the framed photos for the show this Saturday night. Really cool stuff. All of the pieces Rob prints himself with archival pigment ink print on silver rag paper and they have uv protected glass, they should last 150 years without fading. The great thing is that there are big framed pieces for $300 and their are smaller matted pieces for $25, so there is really something for every budget. I think this show will be fun.
We had a great day here at the gallery on Saturday. It appears that not everyone gave their Mom’s gas cards as was predicted by some of the business owners on the street. All day Saturday the street was packed with people and the store was booming, good times!

Rob Strovers is coming today to bring the first of the photos for the show “New Works by Photographer Robert Strovers” that opens on Saturday. More about that later.
PS — Happy Mother’s Day Mom!!
If you work in the medium of Polymer Clay this show may be for you. This is the first show by the Pittsburgh Polymer Clay Guild. Two of the artists, Denise Graham and Laura Tabakman, have shown their work here at the gallery for years and they are in charge and I think it will be a great show. The show will run November 1 through the 15, 2008 right here at Planet Art.
