I am working on a new blog. This one has always been alittle hard to figure out. I will change the link from the website soon. For now it’s planetartblog.com.

Tonight is the opening for the Figurative Sculpture show and it’s First Friday. Please join us up here on Washington Rd between 6:00 and 9:00. Three live bands, stilt walkers, magicians, paper mache here at the gallery and I have ordered 6 dozen cookies for the kids!
Here are some pictures of the set up for this show, I have had so many emails coming in with people interested in seeing photos who can’t make it tonight. It is really amazing work. She uses junk mail to make a clay body to make each piece. The range in size from 6 inches to 6 feet and price from $65 to $580 — something for everyone!
Lorraine Gregus from the Alamnac interviewed Rachael here at the gallery yesterday and there should be an article in next weeks paper, keep your eye out.
Greg will be roaming the streets with our kids –they love hanging out up here with all their buddies and dancing in Clearview Common — so Aileen will be here at the gallery to help greet everyone coming in. So if you have questions about any Ai Design jewelry tonight is the night to stop by since she is Ai.

OK, I’m back from vacation and getting everything back in order. Greg and Molly took good care of the gallery for me, but I still have a ton of catching up to do.
We have a show in two weeks — “Figurative Sculpture by Racheal DiRenna”. The opening is on the First Friday in August from 6-9 pm. I’ll post more info soon. For info on upcoming shows check out Planet Art Gallery website.
The A/C is broken here at the gallery and as some of you know we have no landlord so we are using a box fan for now, but hopefully I will get this all sorted out soon. In the meantime it’s just like the good ol’ days in here. I am thinking of getting a bucket of ice to set behind the fan to really cool the place.
Three Rivers was a huge success and Aileen, my Dad, and I had a great time meeting thousands of people and just spreading the word about the gallery and all the great local artists we have here.
All the people who wanted Grey Goose bottles can stop in because Greg just fired a gaggle. Also, while I was on vacation my Dad and I worked hard searching for interesting bottle to turn into great art, so as soon as we can we should have more new interesting bottles available. Hope to see everyone soon.
I was at Three Rivers Festival for the last seventeen days! We packed up tonight and then I realized that I never took a picture of the tent or of us — Aileen, my Dad, or myself working. If you happen to have a picture of the Planet Art tent please send it to me so I can post it on the blog.
Everything was great. We had spectacular sales and a lot of fun. Aileen and I believe that while we are there we should just relax and enjoy every moment, so we did. We are basically out of bottles, magnets, Vi Laux pendents, and Ai Lotus Flower pendents and earrings. We will try to replenish the supply as soon as we can.
I am off to have a glass of wine (work, really, I need more bottles) and then in two days I will take a vacation to Mom and Dad’s, so make sure to stop by the gallery and visit Greg while I am gone.
Tonight is First Friday Uptown and Greg will be at the gallery so stop in and say “Hi”. I will be at Three Rivers Art’s Festival for the next 17 days from 12 -8 everyday, so I may not be updating the blog as much as I like. Enjoy the heat!
That’s right. Pamela’s has opened right here on Washington Rd. If you have never had Pamela’s you must go, their pancakes are out of this world.
The Uptown Farmer’s Market is having a great dinner at Bistro 19 on June 2nd at 6:30. It’s all local foods and supports the Uptown Farmer’s Market. It’s a five course dinner and will include locally raised produce, wines, free range Bison, pastured pork and more. The cost is $75 per person and includes the wine (I can spend more than that on wine alone!!) Make Reservations by calling Bistro 19 at 412-306-1919
So I was talking to my buddy Rick from Fidelity Bank the other day about how expensive gas may make everyone more aware of how much we really rely on shipped in products. The prices are rising at Walmart, but not here at the gallery. Everything we have is home grown. Same is true with Farmer’s Market up here on Washington Rd. I was talking with Carrie Hahn who runs it and she says the farmer’s coop business is up. I can say for sure that the gallery has been booming. More people out walking + more call for locally made products = business for the gallery = more money for about 100 artists = better local economy.
We have been keeping the gallery open late the last few nights because the weather is so great that people are roaming around and staying out late. Basically, if it’s a beautiful night, we’ll be here.
I set up an Etsy site before I left work today. It’s not the best looking site ever, but I wanted to list a few things so that people from out of town will be able to see and buy some of our inventory. Right now it’s mostly melted bottles, but I will add more pieces soon.
