A Taste of Pennsylvania Dinner

May 22, 2008 on 1:07 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

The Uptown Farmer’s Market is having a great dinner at Bistro 19 on June 2nd at 6:30.  It’s all local foods and supports the Uptown Farmer’s Market.  It’s a five course dinner and will include locally raised produce, wines, free range Bison, pastured pork and more.  The cost is $75 per person and includes the wine (I can spend more than that on wine alone!!)  Make Reservations by calling Bistro 19 at 412-306-1919

Why $4.00 gas may save the U.S.

May 22, 2008 on 1:04 am | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments

So I was talking to my buddy Rick from Fidelity Bank the other day about how expensive gas may make everyone more aware of how much we really rely on shipped in products.  The prices are rising at Walmart, but not here at the gallery.  Everything we have is home grown.  Same is true with Farmer’s Market up here on Washington Rd.  I was talking with Carrie Hahn who runs it and she says the farmer’s coop business is up.  I can say for sure that the gallery has been booming.   More people out walking + more call for locally made products = business for the gallery = more money for about 100 artists  = better local economy.

Here are a few shots that Rob took before the show Saturday night.  Even though it rained we had a great turn out.

A little about the photography show this weekend

rob strovers new work at Planet Art

Rob just dropped off a bunch of the framed photos for the show this Saturday night.  Really cool stuff.  All of the pieces Rob prints himself with archival pigment ink print on silver rag paper and they have uv protected glass, they should last 150 years without fading.  The great thing is that there are big framed pieces for $300 and their are smaller matted pieces for $25, so there is really something for every budget.  I think this show will be fun.

Apparently everyone loves their Mom

May 12, 2008 on 5:02 pm | In Art, Life in general | No Comments

We had a great day here at the gallery on Saturday.  It appears that not everyone gave their Mom’s gas cards as was predicted by some of the business owners on the street.  All day Saturday the street was packed with people and the store was booming, good times!

Rob Strovers is coming today to bring the first of the photos for the show “New Works by Photographer Robert Strovers” that opens on Saturday.  More about that later.

PS — Happy Mother’s Day Mom!!

Polymer Clay Journey taking artist submissions

May 6, 2008 on 3:57 pm | In Art, Life in general | No Comments

If you work in the medium of Polymer Clay this show may be for you.  This is the first show by the Pittsburgh Polymer Clay Guild.  Two of the artists, Denise Graham and Laura Tabakman, have shown their work here at the gallery for years and they are in charge and I think it will be a great show.  The show will run November 1 through the 15, 2008 right here at Planet Art.
